About Dangar Island

Sydney's Dangar Island lies like a jewel in the Hawkesbury River only 55 minutes from Sydney's CBD and 30 minutes from Gosford by road or rail.

A 76 acre natural experience offering a range of services including a regular ferry service, shop, bowling club, water taxi and Rural Fire Service. Brooklyn, just 10 minutes away, has a marina, shops, cafes, restaurants, a medical centre and train station.

How to Get There

By road from the south: take the F3 expressway at Wahroonga, drive 20 minutes to the Hawkesbury River Bridge and follow the Brooklyn-Mooney Mooney turnoff just after you cross the river.

By road from the north: Take the F3 expressway, and as you approach the Hawkesbury River watch for the Brooklyn-Mooney Mooney turnoff to your left.

Follow the signs to Brooklyn and drive through this scenic village as far as you can. At the end of the road you will find a public car park and the Dangar Island Ferry Wharf.

By rail: Catch the train at Central in the Country section or Strathfield and 55 minutes later alight at Hawkesbury River Station ( station after Cowan ). The Dangar Island ferry can be seen on your left as you leave the station.

The ferry trip is a leisurely 10 minutes and departs regularly 7 days a week.
